(St. Louis Post Dispatch) – Illinois’ corn and soybean harvests are almost done.

A report this week from the National Agricultural Statistics Service shows that Illinois’ corn harvest is 98 percent complete, while the state’s soybeans are 96 percent done.

Brad Schwab heads the National Agricultural Statistics Service in Illinois, and he says the harvest moved along because recent rainfall accumulations were “virtually nonexistent.”

Additionally, winter wheat planting was 96 percent complete.

Schwab says that crop is in good shape, showing 74 percent emergence from good, moist soil.
