(Agriculture.com) – The U.S. soybean crop continues to deteriorate, while corn maintains its condition rating, according to the USDA Monday.
In its weekly Crop Progress Report, the governmental agency rated the U.S. soybean crop as 62% good/excellent vs. 63% a week ago. By state, Minnesota and Iowa soybeans have the best ratings at 78%, with Nebraska at 71%. Illinois soybeans have a good/excellent rating at 48%, while Indiana and Ohio soybeans continue to suffer at 42%.
Also, 6% of the soybeans are setting pods vs. a 7% five-year average. The report shows that 38% of the soybeans are blooming vs. a 37% five-year average.
For corn, the USDA rated the nations crop as 69% good/excellent, compared with 69% a week ago. Also, 27% of the crop is silting vs. a 34% five-year average.
Minnesota and Iowa checked in with the best good/excellent ratings with 85% and 82% respectively. Nebraska corn is 73% good/excellent, while Indiana and Ohio crops received the poorest good/excellent ratings at 46% and 41%, respectively.
USDA pegged the U.S. winter wheat harvest at 65% complete vs. a 68% five-year average.
