North American Q4 Cocoa Grindings Dip by Almost 6%

(IEG Vu) – North American cocoa grindings in Q4 fell by 5.9%, data from the National Confectioners Association (NCA) showed on Friday (January 17).
Cocoa processors in the US, Canada and Mexico reported grinding of 110,321 tonnes of beans during Q4 down by 5.9% compared to Q4 2018, according to the NCA report.
This was below Q4 2018’s grindings which saw a 1.25% rise. However, figures for Q4 did not drop by as much as Q3 2019 grindings, itself a 10-year low.
The nine companies that took part in the North American survey are: Barry Callebaut, Guittard Chocolate Co, The Blommer Chocolate Co, The Hershey Compan, Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate Co, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, ECOM and Nestlé Ghirardelli Chocolate Co.
Earlier today, European grinding figures saw a minor dip, while Asian figures rose by 8.7%.
