Kansas Wheat Conditions Worsen, Texas Improves, USDA Says

(Businessweek) – Jan. 30 (Bloomberg) — About 49 percent of the winter wheat crop in Kansas, the biggest producer, was rated good-to- excellent as of yesterday, down from 53 percent a month earlier, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.
In Texas, 26 percent of the winter wheat received the top ratings, up from 23 percent a week earlier, the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service said today on its website. Crops in Nebraska were rated 65 percent good to excellent, less than the 74 percent at the start of January, while still “well above last year,” the USDA said.
About 54 percent of Oklahoma’s winter wheat was rated good to excellent, down from 63 percent a month earlier.
