Grain, Soybean Bids Mostly Higher

Flour-and-Wheat450x299(High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal) – Compared to Jan. 13, grain and soybeans were mostly higher, with the exception of Minneapolis wheat, according to the National Grain Market Summary, Jan. 17.

Soybeans lead the way Jan. 17, as there has been flooding in Argentina, with speculation that may reduce production by 150 million bushel. Additional sources of support came from a weaker U.S. dollar and stronger outside markets.

Wheat was 16 lower to 8 higher. Corn was 7 to 12 cents higher. Sorghum was 12 cents higher. Soybeans were 17 to 13 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City March wheat was $4.52, up 3 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $3.87, up 3 cents; Minneapolis, $5.68 3/4, down 7 cents; Portland, $4.56 to $4.73 1/3, unchanged to up 7 1/2 cents; St. Louis, $4.24 to $4.32, up 8 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.45 1/2 to $3.50 1/2, up 7 cents; Minneapolis, no quotes; southern Iowa, $3.43 to $3.49 1/2, up 7 to 12 cents; Omaha, $3.41 to $3.48, up 7 to 12 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $10.19 1/4, up 23 to 18 cents; Minneapolis, no quotes; southern Iowa, $10.23 1/4 to $10.34 1/4, up 17 to 23 cents; central Illinois processors, $10.51 1/4 to $10.64 1/4, up 20 to 18 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices June 2, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $4.62 to $5.57, up 3 cents; 12% protein, $5.57 to $5.89, up 8 to 3 cents; 13% protein, $6.12 to $6.22, up 3 cents; 14% protein, $6.77 to $6.87, up 3 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.74 to $3.82, up 4 to 7 cents.
