GOP Governors to Meet with Pence to Discuss NAFTA

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) – The next major marker in the behind-the-scenes effort to impress upon the Trump administration the dangers of withdrawing from NAFTA is a meeting at the White House today involving the Republican governors of Michigan, Arkansas, Iowa and Tennessee and Vice President Mike Pence.
The governors – Rick Snyder, Asa Hutchinson, Kim Reynolds and Bill Haslam, respectively – are planning to apply more pressure on the administration by discussing the potential effects on state economies, reports Politico.
Last month, at a summit of Republican governors in Austin, Tex., the normally unflappable Pence appeared to be caught off guard by the level of concern state leaders expressed over a possible NAFTA withdrawal.
