Corn, Soybean Conditions Staying the Course

(Cornandsoybeandigest.com) –The latest crop progress report shows 73% of the soybeans planted this season are in good and excellent condition. That’s down a point from last week’s 74%.
So far, here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five soybean producing states: Illinois (77%), Iowa (81%), Minnesota (83%), Nebraska (82%), North Dakota (82%).
The states with the lowest ratings (good to excellent) remain Missouri (44%), Louisiana (54%), Kansas and North Carolina (56%), and South Dakota (61%).
Corn condition
Farmers say 78% of the corn planted this year is in good and excellent shape. Last week, it was rated as 77% being in good and excellent shape.
So far, here are the good/excellent conditions in the top five corn producing states: Iowa (84%), Illinois (81%), Nebraska (86%), Minnesota (88%), Kansas (61%).
The states with the lowest ratings (good to excellent) remain Texas (39%), Missouri (48%), North Carolina (53%), Kansas (61%), Pennsylvania (65%), and South Dakota (66%).
Soybeans planted
Overall, 97% of the soybeans have been planted. That’s above the four-year average of 91%. At this time last year, producers had 95% of the crop planted.
In the Midwest, the only state struggling to crack the 90% market is Michigan which only reports 86% complete.
Soybeans emerged
The soybean crop is moving along faster than last year and above the four year average. Producers say 90% of the soybean crop has emerged. That’s 3% above last year when records show 87% was emerged and 6% above the four year average of 81%.
