Corn Bids Higher, Soybeans Lower

Wheat, corn and soybean(High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal) – Cash bids were mixed Oct. 4, with corn bids higher, soybeans lower, and wheat in both positive and negative territory, according to the National Grain Market Summary.

Yield reports from harvest are better than expected, adding pressure to the market; however, this pressure is offset by outside markets and regional harvest delays.

Wheat was mostly 4 cents lower to 6 cents higher. Corn was mostly 2 to 5 cents higher. Sorghum was 4 cents higher. Soybeans were 7 to 16 cents lower.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $4.03, down 4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $3.23, down 4 cents; Minneapolis, $5.27 1/4, up 6 cents; Portland, $4.50 to $4.75, unchanged to down 1/2 cent; St. Louis, $3.61, up 4 to down 44 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $3.14 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents; Minneapolis, $2.94 1/4, up 2 1/4 cents; southern Iowa, $3.11 1/4 to $3.22 3/4, up 5 1/4 to 1 3/4 cents; Omaha, $3.10 to $3.14, up 2 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $9.43 1/2, down 9 1/2 cents; Minneapolis, $9.11 1/2, down 9 1/2 cents; southern Iowa, $9.26 1/2 to $9.34, down 7 1/2 to 11 cents; central Illinois processors, $9.43 1/2 to $9.48 1/2, down 9 1/2 cents.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 4, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $3.91 to $4.53, down 4 cents; 12% protein, $4.58 to $4.88, down 4 cents; 13% protein, $5.08 to $5.38, down 4 cents; 14% protein, $5.28 to $5.38, down 4 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $3.59 to $3.64, up 9 to 1 cent.
